Ex-footballer and coach Jimmy Baker passes away


Ex-Seychelles international player and national team coach has passed away, Sports Nation has learned.

Born on March 17, 1951, the younger brother of ex-footballer-turned-commentator Rolly Baker, Jimmy was a sweeper with Ascot, before joining the Seychelles national team for the first time in 1971. He was the selection’s coach player at the first Indian Ocean Island Games in 1979, before taking over as full-time coach in the 80s.

An employee of the National Sports Council in the administration section – project implementation and facilities management – since its inception in 1982, until 1993, Mr Baker passed away on Sunday June 17.
